St. James Street

St. James street is an original oil on canvas. This piece is different from many of my pieces because it does not have high relief created with thick applications of paint. St. James street is painted in more of a traditional way. I use brushes instead of pallet knives.

St. James Street is not for sale. This piece will someday be passed on to on of my children. Prints of this piece may be available in the future.

St. James Street is dedicated to the loving memory of my mother, Vera Belle Beshears. I hope that you enjoy St. James Street as much as I have enjoyed writing to you about it. Thanks once again for reading my blog. I greatly appreciate your support!

Gigi's Poppies

Gigi’s Poppies is an original oil on canvas. This piece came to life in my studio. I used bright, brilliant colors. I wanted my poppies to stand out against the blue-yellow sky. This painting has lots of texture and high relief. The poppies not only stand out in color, they are actually raised. This gives this piece an almost 3-D look.

Gigi’s Poppies is sure to bring summer into any room. This delightful piece will capture your imagination and take you to a place of bliss. I found poppies to be very popular. It seems that this is a much loved flower. I have enjoyed painting poppies in the past. I can’t help but feel that this piece is my best poppy painting yet.

The tall and slender canvas is perfect for that sliver of wall that you just don’t know what to do with. Gigi’s Poppies is garenteed not to wilt and die. You can find Gigi‘s Poppies on my website under works.
Gigi’s Poppies was inspired by and named after a friend. I hope that you enjoy this piece as I have enjoyed writing to you. Take care and until next time. Chow!

Blue Aster FLowers original oil painting by Paris Wyatt Llanso

Blue Aster Flowers is an original oil on canvas. This piece was painted with Spring in mind. Now, just in time for the beginning of spring, here are my Blue Aster Flowers!

This painting was created using premium oil paints, a palette knife and a one and a half inch deep edge canvas. The image is wrapped around the edge of the canvas, eliminating the need for a frame. The flowers have nice detail. Using thick applications of paint, I create a high relief image. I use this high relief method on many of my paintings. It gives them an almost 3-D look. Blue Aster Flowers painting has lots of movement and texture. I combine my love of sculpture with my love of painting. What is the result? A high relief oil painting that captures your eye and imagination.

I have painted many a flower. Each has its own feel. Blue aster flowers are a new subject for me. I jumped at the challenge with enthusiasm. I was excited to try something new. Now I am excited to present my painting to you, here, on my blog!

Wahb Takes Final Rest in Death Gulch by Paris Wyatt Llanso

Wahb Takes Final Rest in Death Gulch is a piece I painted for The Demuth Museum’s invitational event, A Novel Approach: A Literary Inspiration. The novel I chose is The Biography of a Grizzly by Ernest Thompson Seton. This story is about a Grizzly bear who loses his mother and siblings when a hunter shoots them. The book fallows along with the bear through his life trials. You are made to feel connected and have great empathy for the bear. The scene I chose was near the end of the book. Wahb is at the end of his life and is resting for the last time. He reflects on his life and ends with the thoughts of his mother and siblings romping through the Colorado Rocky Mountains in sweet blissfulness.
This book has a way to bring a tear to the readers eye. It is such a lovely story yet so sad. I remember the first time the story was read to me as a child in school. I took the story home and showed it to my mother and it became a family favorite. My siblings and I all remember this story well and many of our childhood pets were named Wahb. I am glad I chose this story above others to paint an illustration for. I was wanting to experiment with this a certain style of illustration. This project gave me the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Whab Takes Final Rest in Death Gulch was created differently from many of my newer pieces. I painted this piece mainly with a paint brush and only used the pallet knife for the hair on the bear.
Wahb Takes Final Rest in Death Gulch shows a very tired, near death bear. The lava like pool is taken from the idea brought about in the book, where Wahb bathes in the sulfur pools in Yellowstone. I mix my memory of the sulfur pools in Yellowstone with the image I picture while reading the book, the sense of encroaching death through deadly gasses escaping the mud pool. The big vulture and the bones of animals surrounding, adds to the feeling that death is creeping its way upon old Wahb. This is my way of showing the feeling that I get at this point in the story, that Wahb’s suffering will soon end and he will be reunited with his mother and siblings that he lost so long ago.

Thank you for reading my blog. I hope that you will enjoy Wahb Takes Final Rest in Death Gulch. It was a pleasure to paint it and write about.

Lancaster Red Roses Barn by Paris Wyatt Llanso

Lancaster Red Roses Barn is a piece that I have submitted for consideration to be hung in the Lancaster County Convention Center.

Peering from the rose bushes, you get a glimpse of the barn. The roses are applied in a very high relief. The barn its self does not have very thick application of paint, though it is very detailed. This gives you the illusion that you are peering down at the barn from the rose bushes. The trees back behind, are very subtle and are almost more of a wash. If you look closely at the left side of the piece you’ll see that there clothes hanging on the line. I like to provide detail to such things. Everything behind the roses has a cool and mellow color scheme. The roses stand out and pop against the rest of the painting.

I have painted many landscapes however, lately I have been working on more still life pieces. I felt it was time to do another landscape. I also thought a Lancaster County barn and roses would be a perfect fit. After all Lancaster is the red rose city.
Lancaster Red Roses Barn was painted in my studio. For this piece I used my high relief method. The edge if the canvas is 1.5 inches deep. The image is wrapped around edge for a finished look.
I hope that you will enjoy Lancaster Red Roses Barn as I enjoyed painting it. I thank you for reading my blog. Don’t go too far away. There are many more creations in my studio.

         MacawMacaw II

Macaws are brilliant colored birds found in the warmest, tropical regions of the world. These birds are beautiful and magnificent. I thought it fitting to paint my rendition of macaws. I feel as though it has livened my studio beautifully!

The measurements of my macaws are 12 X 36 inches. The canvas is 1.5 inches deep. These piece are perfect for that sliver of wall that you just don’t know what to do with. It brings color, life and most of all the reminder of this bird, their tropical habitats and warmer days ahead. The macaws were created in my studio, using my thick application method. I use only rich, vibrant oil paints insuring quality fine art pieces that will last a life time and beyond. The high relief gives it an almost 3-D look and makes you want to reach out and touch the paint.

I enjoyed bringing my studio to life with my macaws. I hope that you will enjoy my macaws as much as I enjoyed creating them. Thank you for reading my blog and keep in touch. There are always new, exciting works in my studio! Take care!
