Orchid

Orchid’s are a much loved flower. People seem to unanimously agree that they are one of their favorite flowers. I have painted many an orchid and each and every time my audience just adores them. Really I find that I can not go wrong with a simple orchid. Each time I create an orchid it takes on a life of it’s own, a certain persona. This orchid is no different and I am very pleased. At times my studio is a garden of oil painted flowers on canvas. This is perfect for those cold, winter months when I can not grow my own garden outside. The other bonus is, my oil painted garden never wilts and dies. Your home may have room for a garden of this type!

The orchid was created in my studio while using my high relief method of creating texture with a pallet knife and rich vibrant oil paints. The measurements of the orchid are 12 X 24 inches. The canvas is 1.5 inches deep. The image is wrapped around the edge creating a beautiful gallery wrap for a finished look. This piece may or may not be placed in a frame, it is at the discretion of the owner.

I thank you for reading my blog and hope that you enjoy my orchid piece. I am so pleased to be able to show you a piece of my lively studio, oil on canvas garden. Come back soon, flowers are sure to grow in my studio!

Pineapple

Pineapple was inspired by a pineapple I bought at the store. I set it up on my marble pedestal table and let my imagination take me away. I then imagined a medley of fruit surrounding it. An orange, a mango, some cherries and wedges of sliced pineapple filled the crevices of space. The brilliance of combining fresh tangy flavors with a tropical blue and yellow background allows my pineapple to radiate a sort of warmth. The brightness of the colors and depth of texture makes this a one of a kind piece and adds a magnificent splash of color to any empty space.
Pineapple was created in my studio. I sculpted the image with a pallet knife and rich, vibrant oil paints, using my high relief method. The image is wrapped around the edge, creating a finished look. This allows the piece to remain unframed. If the owner so desires, it may still be framed. The measurements are 11 X 14 inches and the depth is 1.5 inches.
Thank you for reading my blog about Pineapple. I enjoyed writing to you as always! Take care and allow color and brilliance to flow into your life!

White Peonies

White peonies was a delight for me to create. These flowers have an essence all their own. I really think that this piece speaks for it’s self.

White peonies was created in my studio. The measurements are 12 X 12 inches. The canvas is 1.5 inches deep. I used a pallet knife to sculpt my peonies with rich, vibrant oil paint. Using my thick application method, I crate a high relief image that is sure to capture the eye. I added the red background to give this piece drama against the white peonies. The texture and high relief of brilliant color gives it that almost 3-D look you have come to expect in my work.

I thank you for reading my blog and hope you enjoy White Peonies as I have thoroughly enjoyed writing to you. Take care and stay tuned. something new is always cooking in my studio!

Pina Colada

Pina Colada

Tempt your taste buds with the tropical taste of a pina colada, succulent pineapple, tangy lime, sweet cherries and fresh coconut. During the cold depths of the end of winter, this piece will warm your very soul. The warming factor could be attributed to the abundance of vibrant color. Do you have a space in your home or office that needs color? This piece is also delightfully cute sitting on a counter top or even better yet your bar counter.

Pina Colada was sculpted with thick applications of rich, vibrant colored oil paint. I use a pallet knife to sculpt and create texture and an almost 3-D look. The canvas is 1.5 inches deep and the image is wrapped around the edges for a finished look
Pina Colada brought warmth to my studio. I hope it has a similar effect when you look at it. Thank you for reading my blog. I have thoroughly enjoyed writing to you. Take care and until my next release of new art work.

My Hummingbird and Hydrangea painting is an original oil on canvas. Currently, I am primarily working with oils. Combining my love of sculpture to my love of rich, vibrant color.

Hummingbird and Hydrangea was created in my studio while listening to NPR radio. They air a mixture of classical music, various talk shows, interviews, world news and even some rock and roll occasionally. It creates a calm vibe in the room which I incorporate into my works of art.

Hummingbird and Hydrangea was sculpted, using a pallet knife with rich, vibrant oil paints. I eliminate the need to buy a frame by wrapping the image around the edge, though a frame may still be used if desired. The edge of the canvas is 1 ½ inches thick. The measurements of the canvas are 30 X 36 inches. The hummingbird, though detailed has less application of paint than the hydrangea its self. By doing this I give a very textured, almost 3D look to the painting. Hummingbird and Hydrangea will give you the urge to reach out and touch it, though you know that maybe you shouldn’t. Go ahead, no one is looking.

I hope you enjoy Hummingbird and Hydrangea and thank you for reading my blog. Stay tuned, there is more to come.
